Watch out for spoilers if you have not seen the first episode of Game of Thrones season 8 . In “Winterfell” , Jaime Lannister keeps his promise and joins the North to fight on the side of the living against the Night King and his army. But his arrival at Winterfell will not go unnoticed, especially since Bran was waiting for him. In addition to his guilt over the young boy he pushed into the void in the first season, Jaime will have to answer for his actions against the Mad King, Daenerys’ father, Aerys II Targaryen, who earned him the nickname of Kingslayer (Regicide) . In killing Aerys II, Jaime saved King’s Landing, but he also sentenced himself in the event that his route crosses that of a Targaryen.
In the promo video of the upcoming episodes of Game of Thrones Season 8 that you can see above, Daenerys goes back over all the things she imagined to inflict on her father’s killer. Will the Dragons’ Mother really kill Jaime, who has come voluntarily and ready to join their army? It would be tragic to see him die even before the battle begins, but Daenerys is obviously unaware of Jaime’s evolution that viewers have been able to follow through the seasons. Still, Jaime has some allies who could testify on his behalf, such as Brienne or Tyrion, Queen’s Hand.
In addition to this imminent danger, Jaime also runs another more pernicious danger since Cersei ordered Bronn to kill the Lannister brothers if the White Walkers did not do it. The future does not bode well for Jaime, but it is hoped that his presence at Winterfell will prove his good faith. Daenerys knows the extent of his father’s madness, so Jaime could be forgiven for his actions rather than sentenced to death . This decision could also be an example of how Daenerys intends to reign since it will have the opportunity to follow the footsteps of his father by choosing revenge, or to move away by favoring clemency. What will be his decision? See you in a few days on OCS to find out.
