GOT 8: What if Jon Snow’s father was actually the Night King?

It’s not because the Game of Thrones season 8 got off to a good start on OCS that speculations and theories have to be stopped. And one of them is as crazy as it is frightening because it concerns – again – the origins of Jon Snow. A member of Reddit thinks that the Night King is none other than the famous Rhaegar Targaryen, father of Jon Snow but also brother of Daenerys Targaryen . This requires setting aside Bran’s vision of the creation of the first White Walker, which is supposed to be the Night King but which, after all, could be another.

Assuming that the Night King is created by being stabbed in the heart by dragonglass, some people think that Rhaegar did not die at the Trident during his duel with Robert Baratheon, but instead turned into a Night King. Robert would then have used dragonglass – of which there is a lot to Dragonstone – without knowing it, thus transforming his rival. And it is clear that the arguments that bring these characters are many, not to mention the fact that it would also be able to give a real motivation to the Night King. Several theories have already been made about the possible belonging of the human transformed into Night King in Targaryen, and the series has recently brought some additional clues. The Night King controls a dragon and can ride him, things that only the Targaryen are supposed to be capable of, but he can also walk through the flames and survive as shown in episode 3 of Game of Thrones Season 8 .

According to the surfer, the White Walkers and the ghosts would not be active again until shortly after Rhaegar’s “death”, which would have given them a new motivation: that of reconquering the throne. To descend on Westeros would allow Rhaegar to regain his rightful throne while avenging the Targaryen’s death during Robert’s rebellion . And if the Night King is actually Rhaegar, it would add an even more dramatic aspect to Jon Snow’s fight against the one who would actually be his father. It’s a bit of a wacky idea but it does not lack arguments and, given all that’s going on in Game of Thronesis still almost likely. In any case, many still think that the Night King has – or rather had – a connection with the Targaryen. It remains to be seen whether the last 3 episodes will explore this track or whether it will be a new unanswered question and one more drama for Jon Snow.
